Reece James (born 8 December 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic, on loan from Chelsea, as a full back.[3][4]
Club career
Chelsea
James joined Chelsea at the age of six. He made his Under-18 debut against West Ham United in March 2016. In 2017–18 season, he captained the Under-18s to a record fifth successive FA Youth Cup. He was named the club's Academy Player of the Year.[5]
Loan to Wigan Athletic
In June 2018, James signed a four-year contract with Chelsea and joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2018–2019 campaign.[6]
International career
He has represented England at youth level from Under-17 up to Under-20. In May 2017, James was included in an England U20 squad for the 2017 Toulon Tournament.[7] He started in the final as England defeated the Ivory Coast to retain their title.[8]
In July 2017, James was part of the England Under-19 squad that won the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.[9] He started in the semi-final against the Czech Republic.[10]
