Chandrashekara (M. Balaiah) is the king of Alakapuri. When he is on a tour he enters into the borders of Avanti kingdom. There he sees a beautiful girl Parvathi (Pushpalata) and falls in love with her at first sight. He thinks that she is the princess of Avanthi and sends a message to the Avanthi king (Malladi) that he wants to marry his daughter. But actually, she is the slave to the princess of Avanthi, Tripura Sundari Devi (Jamuna), who is dreaming of marrying Chandrashekar. Listening to this, Tripurasundari feels very happy. During the time of the marriage, Chandrashekara puts the garland around Parvathi's neck, which hurts Tripura Sundari a lot and she decides to take revenge against both of them. Five years pass Chandrashekara and Parvathi are blessed with a baby boy named prince Gajendra. There, Tripura Sundari is making a huge penance in the forest where she comes across a saint, Mantra Siddha (Satyanarayana), who has supernatural powers. She explains her entire story and he feels very happy that Air has added to fire because his intention is also the same, to take revenge on Chandrashekara. Mantra Siddha loved and married Chandrashekara's sister, knowing this he ostracized them from his kingdom and his wife died giving birth to a baby girl. Now both of them join hands, Mantra Siddha has five powerful tablets which can transform any creature into another on their wish of the person who gives it. One tablet is used as a demo and the remaining four tablets they plan to use on Chandrashekara & Parvathi. Tripura Sundari enters Alakapuri kingdom with a friendly nature and earns their confidence. One night she orders her henchman to kidnap the prince and kill him by taking him to the forest. In the forest, the prince has been protected by elephants and they take care of him. Depressed, Chandrashaekara and Parvathi are taken to Mantra Siddha by Tripura Sundari to trace the child. Mantra Siddha gives them the holy water to drink and transforms Chandrashekara into a Pearl Necklace and Parvathi into an ugly woman. Meanwhile, Mantra Siddha uses the 4th tablet and transforms into Chandrashekara. He marries Tripura Sundari and creates his daughter as their own. Tripura Sundari hides the 5th tablet for her safety.

Years roll by, Gajendra (N. T. Rama Rao) grew up in the forest and due to no human communication, he becomes Tarzan. In the fort Priyadarshini (Jaya Prada) also grew. Tripura Sundari plans to make her marriage with her brother Nandi Keshava (Mohan Babu). Once the king Chandrashekara goes for hunting along with Priyadarshini where she was rescued by Gajendra. From that time she starts liking him. She brings him to the fort and starts teaching him. Gajendra qualifies in all the fields and even starts speaking. Both of them love each other. Knowing this Tripura Sundari wants to eliminate Gajendra from their way. She takes the help of her childhood friend Ratnangi Devi (Kanchana). They provoke Gajendra for the competition in which he wins, hence honors him with a dinner in which they give sedation. After he regains consciousness, they put blame on Gajendra that he has molested a girl and insulted him in the court that he is a man without any parental identity nor hierarchy. Priyadarshini also believes it. Desperate, Gajendra leaves the fort and goes back to the forest. After some time, Priyadarshini also knows the truth and she also leaves the forest where both of them get married and start living happily. In the fort, Chandrashekara blames Tripura Sundari and Nandi Keshava for the missing of her daughter and goes on showing authority towards them. In anger, Tripura Sundari uses the hidden 5th tablet on Chandrashekara and again transforms him to Mantra Siddha. When Nandi Keshava is about to catch him, he kills him and escapes from there. Now Gajendra moves in search of parents along with Priyadarshini. Meanwhile, a thief stole the pearl necklace from Parvathi and sells it to a merchant. Gajendra buys it and they accommodate in a hotel. Seeing the necklace in the hands of Gajendra, Parvathi tries to steal it. While snatching it, Parvathi gets hurt and Gajendra himself serves her. That night the hotel owner offers a special bed which was used by Vikramarka Maharaja. When he lies on the bed, Salabangikas on the bed start talking to each other. They reveal the entire birth secret of Gajendra, tell about his parents and also tell how to get rid of this curse. He should pass three destinations, while they are talking about the first destination, unfortunately, Gajendra interrupts their communication, so, they stop talking. Then he feels sorry for his deed and now he wants to make his parents normal at any cost. So he starts his journey along with his parents and Priyadarshini. At last, Priyadarshini also comes to know the truth that Mantra Siddha is her father. Gajendra hands over the wand to the saint because it should not be misused.
