Pollachi Junction railway station is a Railway Junction serving the town of Pollachi, Tamil Nadu. This Station is part of the Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway Zone. It is also known by its station code: POY.
History
- The Pollachi is first known for trade by 1850's.The track is led between palakkad-pollachi,dindugul-podanur.After a 1900,itt is a need for passengers ststion.The service of POLLACHIJN BEGINS
- The First service started in the year 1915 from Pollachi to Podanur Line as Meter Gauge section and in the year 2008 the station was closed for the gauge conversion of the Didugul - Podanur.[1]
- On 25 November 2014, CRS successfully completed Speed Trial and Inspection along with Pollachi - Palani Newly Laid Broad Gauge Line. The inspection was very satisfactory according to CRS. Mr. Mittal, Bangalore. WDP 15504 was leading the Speed Trial. After 7 Years of construction Pollachi Junction - Palani Broad Gauge line was opened for commercial use on 9 January 2015.[2]
- The old meter gauge track on the stretch was in use for 110 years since the first train chugged in 1898 before it was closed 2008 when work began to convert the meter gauge railway line to broad gauge as part of the Dindugul - Palakkad Section.
- On 6 October 2015, CRS successfully completed Speed Trial and Inspection along with Pollachi - Palakkad Town Newly Laid Broad Gauge Line. The inspection was very satisfactory according to CRS. Mr. Mittal, Bangalore. The distance of 54 km was covered in 38 Minutes by CRS Special Train. After more than seven-and-a-half years there is renewed hope of train services on the newly laid Palakkad Town - Pollachi Junction new Broad Gauge line was opened for commercial use on 16 November 2015
- On 24 March 2017, CRS Successfully completed Speed Trial and Inspection along with Podanur - Pollachi Newly Laid Broad Gauge Line. The Inspection was very satisfactory according to CRS. Mr. KA Manohar, Bangalore.

The station is a junction formed by the intersection of the following 3 lines:
- Single line to Dindigul via Udumalapettai, Palani and Oddanchatram
- Single line to Coimbatore via Kinathukadavu,Chettipalayam and podanur.
- Single line to Palakkad Junction via Meenachipuram, Muthalamada, Kollengode, Pudunagaram and Palakkad Town Station
Services
There are two express trains from the Pollachi Junction connecting the two state capitals of Kerala and Tamil NaduAmritha Express and Chennai Express respectively made as regular trains from Nov 2017 onwards.[4][5]
