Piko Interactive LLC is a game development and publishing company that concentrates in the development of new games for old consoles such as the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Atari Jaguar, and Amiga, as well as portable platforms such as the original Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. They have several distribution channels from physical game cartridges, bundled games on plug and play consoles, to popular digital distribution channels like Steam Greenlight, Apple Store, and Google Play.[1]

The company was founded in 2013 by Eleazar Galindo Navarro and is based in San Antonio, Texas.[2] Since its foundation, the company has acquired the rights to produce and publish various titles including homebrews, incomplete or unreleased games, and games that relatively unknown to the Western world.[3]

History

On January 2, 2018, Piko announced via their website that they had closed a catalog acquisition of 60 titles, now owning over 100 IPs. The acquisition considered of mostly original IPs from developers Accolade, Beam Software, GT Interactive, Hasbro Interactive, Infogrames, Legend Entertainment, MicroProse, Ocean Software and Spectrum HoloByte.[4] On February 12th, 2018, Piko launched a crowd-funding project on Kickstarter to fund a physical release of the canceled Nintendo 64 port of 40 Winks, with a funding goal of $20,000. The game is the first for the system by Piko, and the first new title for the Nintendo 64 since its discontinuation.[5]
