Plot

The film begins in a village, Pettanalapalem, the President Jagannadham (Nagabhushanam) Sarpanch Butchaiah (Mukkamala), Munsif Achaiah (Rao Gopal Rao), Lakshmipathi (Allu Ramalingaiah) and Panchayati Gumustha Govindaiah (Dhulipala) behave as dictators of the village who diverts all the government funds and schemes for their personal use and no one has the courage to oppose their cruel deeds. Bhushayya, (Chittoor V. Nagaiah) a middle-class farmer is a well-respected and kind-hearted person in the village, his first wife is Jaganadham’s sister. They have a son name Suryam (Prabhakar Reddy), after her death, Bhushayya marries Ranganayakamma (Hemalatha) and their son is Chandram (N. T. Rama Rao), who has good ideology and always tries to protect his village from the atrocities of Bhushayya and the gang. From childhood, Suryam was brought up at Bhushayya's house, marries his daughter Lakshmi (Savitri) and they have a son, Raja. Suryam is a spoiled person with all bad habits and is attracted towards a dancer in the city called Nagamani (Vijayalaitha). Bhushayya's sister-in-law Janakamma is a widow that has two daughters, Nirada (Jhansi) and Sharada (Sadhya Rani). Once Jagannadam molests Nirada and before dying, she gives a death statement to the village Doctor Samuel, Jaganadham tries to manage him but he refuses, Jaganadham kills him also and spreads rumors that Nirada and the Doctor have eloped. After that, he asks Janakamma to make her second daughter Sarada's marriage with him, for which she refuses.

Relationships between Jaganadham and Bhushayya's families are not strong. On the occasion of Raja's learning of the alphabet ceremony Aksharabhyasam, there starts a big quarrel as to who has to perform the ritual. Chandram makes Bhushayya do so. Furious, Jaganadham asks his acolyte Kotayya (Satyanarayana) to kill Chandram. But the new village Doctor Rohini (Vijaya Nirmala) saves him and both fall in love. On the other side, Jagannadham's son, Veeranjaneyulu (Raja Babu) loves Govindam’s daughter Sarasa (Rama Prabha), who is a nurse. Suddenly a beggar (Relangi) appears in the village who teaches morals while begging. Meanwhile, Janakamma arranges her daughter's marriage, but Jagannadham spoils it. Bhushayya could not bear this injustice and spits in his face. Jagannadham decides to take revenge against Bhushayya, so, he instigates Suryam against his father for his share in the property. Suryam files the case in the court, unfortunately, Bhushayya dies while going to court. After his death, Chandram gives entire property to his brother and leaves the house along with his mother. Chandram unites all the villagers and makes them oppose Jagannatham and the gang by establishing a union. At the same time, Mohan (Shobhan Babu), brother of Rohini enters as a Vigilance Officer to the village, he loves and marries Sarada. With the help of Chandram and Veeranjaneyulu, Mohan collects all the proof against Jagannatham and shuts down all their illegal activities. Frustrated, Jagannatham orders Kotaiah to kidnap Mohan and Rohini and also orders the burning of the entire crop of the village. Knowing this, Suryam also turns against Jagannatham and arrives to stop this atrocity. Meanwhile, Veeranjaneyulu informs Chandram and he protects Mohan and Rohini. Now, the entire village bursts out with fire and moves together to see the end of Jagannatham and party. When they are about to kill them the beggar turns as a police officer who has been appointed by the government to find the criminal activities happening in the village. Finally, all the baddies are arrested, the entire family is reunited and the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Chandram & Rohini.
