Pedro David Gallese Quiroz (born 23 February 1990) is a Peruvian professional footballer goalkeeper who last played for Veracruz. He was called up to the Peru national football team in May 2014.[2] He earned his first cap for Peru against Panama on a friendly match on 6 August 2014. He was also one of the key players during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification earning his country the chance to go to its first World Cup in over 36 years.

Club career

Atlético Minero

In 2009 Pedro Gallese joined Atlético Minero.

Universidad San Martín

In 2007 Pedro Gallese joined Universidad San Martín making 56 appearances. He performed impressively at the club earning him his first international appearance on 6 August 2014.

Juan Aurich

In 2015 Pedro Gallese decided to leave Universidad San Martín After 7 years at the club, Pedro Gallese signed for Juan Aurich making 45 appearances. During his time in Juan Aurich he had a good spell earning him a spot in Peru's national team for the Copa America 2015 in Chile

Veracruz

After amazing performances at the Copa América Centenario in the United States, Pedro Gallese signed for Mexican club Veracruz.

International career

His international career began on 6 August 2014. The match was Peru against Panama during his debut he kept a clean sheet and saving a penalty on the 82nd minute of the match, making this an amazing performance Peru went on to win 3–0. Pedro Gallese was selected to be in 2015 Copa América held in Chile, Peru went on to get Third place. After the 2015 Copa América Pedro Gallese became first choice goalkeeper for Peru in the World Cup Qualifiers 2018. Pedro Gallese was Chosen for the Copa América Centenario in 2016 hosted in the United States. During his time at the Copa América Centenario he left amazing performances even earning man of the match in the Peru vs Brazil game. Peru went on to win against Brazil 1–0, Gallese was praised for performances at the Copa América Centenario. After having fractured his wrist during a Liga MX match with Veracruz in August 2017, Peru gave Gallese the nod to start on 5 October 2017. Gallese would go on to have a memorable night at La Bombonera, where he would shut out the Argentina national football team and thus keep Peru in the race to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2018.[3]

On 15 November 2017, Gallese would go on to achieve one of his childhood dreams by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2018 after Peru defeated New Zealand at the intercontinental playoff. Although still injured, Gallese was able to shut out the kiwis on aggregate.[4] In May 2018 he was named in Peru's provisional 24 man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.[5]
