Paatti Sollai Thattathe (lit.Never disobey your grandmother) is a 1988 Tamil comedy film directed by Rajasekhar and produced by AVM. The film stars Pandiarajan, Urvashi, Manorama playing the leading roles. This film featured a Super car (a Volkswagen Beetle, like The Love Bug in 1968, an American comedy film Walt Disney Productions that starred an anthropomorphic pearl-white, fabric-sunroofed 1963 Volkswagen racing Beetle named Herbie) in the climax, which was considered as a super scene. The film was remade in Telugu as Bamma Maata Bangaru Baata (1990).

Plot

Kannathaa (Manorama), an old rich countrywoman of character, as well as her husband, Vadjiran Suppaiya (S S Chandran), an old hunter, look forward to the return of Selvam (Pandiarajan), their unique grandson, whom they raise with love, since the tragic death of his parents. Selvam returns at his home, having ended his high studies. In the train which returns him, he meets Seetha (Urvashi), graduate also, who avoids her home, because of a marriage forced with a notorious procurer. Because he knows how to marry not with the one who was intended he and chosen by the good care of his grandmother, Selvam exiles himself with Seetha, whom he has just married him, towards the capital. The couple meets difficult debuts, because they are obliged to work in the same office, by pretending not to know each other. They have to face of multitudes quiproquos. Then once reconciled with his grandmother, Selvam and Seetha is obliged to lie him, by presenting him a child who is not theirs.

Indeed, Vadjiran Suppaiya who had come see his grandson, well before, lives Seetha with a child in the arms. The old man deduced that it was theirs. Selvam "thus" "rented", with Anushiya (Silk Smitha), her baby, to keep up appearances. But the young woman turns out to be a big swindler. She exploits the situation of the couple.

At the appropriate time, in 1988, the movie benefited from a trailer spread on the Indian television. For Paatti Sollai Thattathe, Rajasekhar realize in the form of cartoon its opening credits. The sequence with the car (Beetle Super Car TMR 8790) remained memorable with the public at the time. This movie of the AVM Productions was a success and added up approximately 175 days[1] in the screen.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack consist of seven songs composed by Chandrabose and lyrics written by Vairamuthu.[2] The famous Tamil actressManorama sung the title song "Delhikku Raja Analum" and "Patta Padippu Padichu Vantha" with the singer Malaysia Vasudevan. About the song "Vannathi Poochi" in Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu talks about Vannathu Poochi Songs (பாட்டி சொல்லை தட்டாதே).
