Nirajan Rayamajhi (Nepali: निराजन रायमाझी ; born 29 January 1980)[1] is a Nepalese retired professional footballer who last played as a Striker for Nepal national football team and New road team (NRT club) . Rayamajhi is best known for his performance with the Nepal national team. He scored a hat trick for the national team against Macau in 2002 World Cup qualification. Rayamajhi is also the top scorer of all time with 13 goals along with his colleague Hari Khadka for Nepal. He retired from Nepal's national team in 2006 . He is considered as one of the most reliable goalscorer at club level as well as national team too.

Background and personal life

Rayamajhi was born in the Mulpani of Kathmandu which is the capital city of Nepal. He reminiscences that his uncle and brother played in the grounds of Mulpani. So he also used to go along with them since childhood. He then ultimately started to play inter-ward football and other local level football tournaments. His father worked in the municipality at that time and had acquaintance with officers of RCT (Rani Pokhari Corner team) club, which let him chance to join the club. He played with RCT club for about five years where he get chance to play in B-division league after couple of years and ultimately he put his footsteps in A-division league. He used to be the top scorer or best player in the league, resulting in his selection for the national team.

National team

At the age of 21, he debuted for national team. In spite of heavy loss against strong Iraq he scored consolating goal. He scored a hat trick against Macau in 2002 world cup qualifying.[2] He was in form until 2004 and was never benched. He became top scorer for national team.

Club Life

Due to his elevated performance with national team, he got the chance to play for big clubs like Friends club, Three star club etc. Then he went Germany just to play and improve his football qualities. He came to know that FIFA wont allow players of team with low FIFA ranking to play upper division leagues of high profiled footballing nation. He joined 4th division club ornek and played for some years. [3] Due to financial problem, he left football and started job.

Return in national team

He came back to Nepal in 2005 and joined Three star club. After a year, he was called up by national team. At same time he joined NRT club. Due to obesity, he couldn't come back to form and finally retired from national team after playing international friendly against Palestine. Nepal football team and Nepali football fans will always miss him.
