Nindu Dampathulu (English: Whole-Hearted Couple) is a 1971 Telugu drama film, produced by M. Jagannatha Rao under the S.V.S. Films banner[2] and directed by K. Viswanath.[3] It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri and Vijaya Nirmala in the lead roles, with music composed by T. V. Raju and Vijaya Krishna Murthy.[4] A few of the scenes in the film are replicated in Swayamkrushi (1987), which was also directed by K. Viswanath.[5]

Plot

Ramu (N. T. Rama Rao) a young man runs a pan shop in a small village. Even though he is not educated, he is very intelligent and many people come to take his advice. In his opposite house, there lives a beautiful girl Subbulu (Vijaya Nirmala) along with her mother Rajamma (Rukmini), running a tea stall for their livelihood. Subbulu loves Ramu a lot. Everyone in the colony likes Ramu, except a local goon Gangulu (Satyanarayana). Ramu brought up his cousin Vani (Lakshmi) from childhood and educated her, whom he wants to marry. But Vani doesn't know Ramu's intention and she loves her classmate Ravi (Chandra Mohan). Ravi is the son of Zamindar Janaki Ramayya (Mikkilineni), who has two sons. The elder one Raghu (M. Balaiah) is his first wife’s son, a well-disciplined person, whereas Ravi, his second wife Kanaka Durga’s (Chaya Devi) son, is a spendthrift, due to the pampering of his shrewd mother. Gangulu looks after their fields in the village. Meanwhile, Subbulu’s paternal uncle Kodanla Rao (Gummadi) lives in the town, whose life ambition is to make his daughter Sridevi (Savitri) an advocate, for which he struggles hard.

Once Ramu comes to town to meet Vani and observes that Kodanla Rao had met with an accident, so, Ramu helps him to reach his house where he gets acquainted with Sridevi. Meanwhile, seeing the behavior of Ravi, Janaki Ramayya puts his half share on his future children, which hurts Kanaka Durga. At the same time, Kondala Rao comes to talk about the alliance of his daughter Sridevi with Raghu, but Raghu talks ill about educated girls, which Kondala Rao could not tolerate and revolts. Taking this as advantage, Kanaka Durga murders Raghu using Gangulu and puts the blame on Kondala Rao. Sridevi argues as defense counsel and wins the case. Overwhelmed, Kondala Rao dies of heart attack. From there onwards, Gangulu blackmails Durgamma for money. Now Sridevi becomes alone, she finds the letter written by Rajamma and comes to know about their relation. She reaches Subbulu by the time Rajamma also dies, both of them start living together and Sridevi doesn’t reveal that she is educated. Sridevi too starts loving Ramu. Vani completes her education and comes back to the village when Ramu comes to know about her love affair with Ravi. So, he sacrifices his love and performs their marriage. Later, on the advice of the village priest (Dhulipalla), he marries Sridevi. After the marriage, Ramu realizes that Sridevi is an advocate, so, he makes her practice and soon she becomes a top lawyer.

Simultaneously, Vani behaves arrogantly in her in-laws' house, starts working without Ravi's wish and they are blessed with a baby boy, but Vani does not take care of the baby, disputes arise between the couple and Vani leaves the house. When Vani reaches Ramu's house he slaps her and Sridevi makes her realize her mistake. Eventually, a dispute arises between Janaki Ramayya and Ravi on property issues. That night, Gangulu steals Janaki Ramaiah's locker and stabs him. At the same time, Ravi comes there Janaki Ramaiah mistakes Ravi as the culprit and before dying he gives a statement. Ravi is arrested. Sridevi takes up the case, Ramu uses his intelligence and catches the real culprit Gangulu and Subbulu dies while saving Ramu. At last, Gangulu is sentenced and Ravi is acquitted. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note.
