Não Para (English: Don't Stop) is a song by the Brazilian singer Anitta. It was debuted at Web Mania on May 31, 2013, and released as her third official single on July 1, 2013. The song reached the top sales position in the iTunes store only a day after the song was made available.[1]

The lyric video was released on July 5, 2013.[2][3][4] The music video, which was filmed months in advance of the song's official release[5][6] was premiered with huge publicity, featuring in the TV Globo's Fantástico program on July 7, 2013.[7][5][8]

Music video

The official video was released on July 7, 2013 on the Fantástico program, and on July 15 on its official YouTube account. The video for Não Para was inspired by São Paulo nightclubs and their modern, hectic atmosphere.[9] Anitta said at a news conference about the album, which was still in production by Warner Music, that the video of the song Não Para would have a different effect on clubs,[10] as well as be a modern video clip and a ballad video, appealing to the younger generation of viewers and listeners. In the video clip, Anitta plays two characters: herself as Anitta, and another character that in the video appears to be her sister (although played by herself).[10] For the sister character, Anitta and her producer chose the name Talitta, mirroring the name Anitta.[10]

There are lyrical elements to the video, with an atmosphere reminiscent of a ballad in some moments.[11][12]

Synopsis

The plot takes place in a typical São Paulo nightclub. The video begins with a logo across the screen[13] that implies that Talitta will be performing at the club tonight. Anitta appears in a dark and dirty corridor, chewing gum. Then Talitta appears on the stage trying to show the audience that she can be sexy. The scenes switch between Talitta's and Anitta's narrative.[6] Anitta moves into a room to work at the nightclub while Talitta sings the sub-chorus of the song on stage. Soon after, Anitta begins serving customers, and people start complaining about Talitta's performance. Anitta ends up improvising on the beat, and the audience begin to realize that Anitta is far better than Talitta on stage. People at the nightclub begin to throw scraps of paper at Talitta, booing. Anitta's friends tell her to climb on the bench to show off her skills. Anitta begins to let go, and Talitta observes Anitta with a look of envy. Soon after, the dancers who were on stage with Talitta begin to be ashamed of her and leave. As Anitta continues to dance to the sound of the chorus of the song, Talitta slowly and indignantly leaves the stage.[10]

In the penultimate chapter of the video, Anitta descends from the bench and throws herself into the crowd; then she climbs on the stage where Talitta was and begins to sing and dance with her friends. People from the club are much more animated about Anitta's performance. Then the video cuts to Talitta crying on a ladder with her dancers. The plot ends with Anitta leaving the stage slowly; the video closes with the microphone on the stage.[14]

Release

Anitta released the song Não Para on Radio Mania Web on May 31, 2013 10 and it was selected as the third official single on July 1, 2013.[15][16] A day after it was made available on iTunes, the song reached the first position in sales of the online store.[17]

Commercial performance

As well as Show das Podererosas, the song also came first in iTunes Brasil and fourth in Brasil Hot 100 Airplay.[10][18][6][12]
