"Indecente" (English: "Indecent") is a Spanish song by Brazilian singer Anitta. It was released on March 26, 2018 along with its music video, filmed live and sponsored by O Boticário.[1]

Background

In 2017, Anitta announced a project titled CheckMate, which consisted of releasing a new song a month, in English, Spanish or Portuguese, along with a music video.[2][3] She debuted with the project "Will I See You" produced by Poo Bear, which became her debut single in English as lead artist.[2] In October, she released the single "Is That for Me", a collaboration with Swedish Alesso.[4] For the November release, the singer recorded "Downtown" a collaboration with the Colombian singer J Balvin. The last single of the project was "Vai Malandra", a song daring funk carioca and trap, according to the artist, it would be the coup "checkmate" to complete the project.[5] The music video was recorded in the Vidigal, Rio de Janeiro, bringing many acquaintances in place and being directed by American Terry Richardson.[6]

Composition and recording

On March 22, 2018, four days before her 25th birthday, the singer announced the release of the single "Indecente", composed in partnership with DJ Yuri Martins, Bigram John Zayas, Fuego, Luyo and Justin Quiles.[7] The production was done by Brazilian DJ Yuri Martins along with the US DVLP and Josh Gudwin.[7] The cover art is a portrait of Anitta taken by Gil Inoue with a collage work done by graphic designer Romeu Silva. The single shows the interest of Anitta in the Latin market mainly after appearing in the Premio Lo Nuestro[8] and the good numbers brought by the good visibility of "Machika".[9]

The music video was directed by Bruno Ilogti and recorded directly from the singer's birthday party.[10] Anitta previously announced that the project would be recorded live at the same time it was transmitted to the internet, but it was revealed by the press that the video had previously edited lighting, while continuing uncut.[11] For this reason the video was released two hours after it was registered.[12] "Indecente" was recorded in a continuous take, where there are no cuts and the camera follows the artist as they walk around.[13] The video resembles the concept of singer Gwen Stefani in the video "Make Me Like You", recorded live backstage at the Grammy Awards, which Anitta revealed to be inspiration for the work.[13]

The costume used by the singer was selected by stylist Daniel Ueda and inspired by the fashion of the 1970s and 80s, especially the clothes full of sparkles and deep necklines used in discothèques that played disco music, referring to the costumes of girl group As Frenéticas, the first pop artists in Brazil.[14] In the video, Anitta runs her party singing in various spots with seventy decorations and various dancers, meeting guests along the way, including singers Pabllo Vittar, Nego do Borel, Jojo Maronttini, Di Ferrero, Kelly Key, Gabriel, o Pensador and Mateus Carrilho, the presenter Luisa Mell, the models Isabeli Fontana and Izabel Goulart, television personalities Arthur Aguiar and Maíra Cardi, the blogger David Brazil, as well as her own husband, Thiago Magalhães, whom she kisses at the end.

Commercial performance

"Indecente" reached number one on the Brazilian iTunes Store an hour after its release.[15]
