The Musandam Peninsula (Arabic: جَـزِيـرَة مُـسَـنْـدَم‎, translit. Jazīraṫ Musandam) is a peninsula that forms the northeastern point of the Arabian Peninsula. Located to the south of the Strait of Hormuz between the Persian and Omani Gulfs,[3] it is shared by Oman and the United Arab Emirates, both of which are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.[1][2] The Omani side of this peninsula is known as Musandam Governorate.

Geology

Land features include the Hajar or Shumayliyah mountains.[1][2]

Fauna and flora

Fauna include the Arabian tahr and caracal. It is unknown if the Arabian leopard is still present.[1][2]
