Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani Arabic: مفتي أبوالقاسم نعماني is the current Mohtamim (Vice-Chancellor) of Darul Uloom Deoband , U.P. India. He was elected as Mohtamim on 23 July 2011. He succeeded the post by Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Vastanvi.
Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani was born in Varanasi (Banaras) UP on 14 January 1947. He graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband in 1967. He was appointed as Member of Majlis-Ash-Shura (Governing Body) of Darul Uloom in 1992.
Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, a Member of Majlis Shura (Exsecutive Body) of Darul Uloom Deoband was selected as new Acting Mohtamim of Darul Uloom Deoband following the sad demise of Maulana Marghoobur Rahman, Mohtamim (VC / Rector) of Darul Uloom Deoband.
This decision was taken by 6 Majlis members who met in Deoband on 09/12/2010 Thu and appointed Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani as Acting Mohtamim till the next Majlis Shura meeting which is scheduled to be held on 11/01/2011. The present Majlis members consulted the other absent members on phone and then reached to this decision.
Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani is well-known scholar of hadith, Mufti, orator and Shaikhul Hadith of Jamia Islamia in Varansi UP. [1]
