Mogam Muppadhu Varusham (lit.Thirty-year lust) is a Tamil language film directed by S. P. Muthuraman, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role and Vijayakumar, Sumithra, Fatafat Jayalaxmi and Sripriya and in supporting roles. The film was based on the novel of the same name by written by Maniyan and published in the magazine Ananda Vikatan.[2]

Plot

The story revolves around five people. Ramesh (Kamal Haasan), a city bred is married to Kasthurie (Sumithra), a village girl. On the other hand, Ravishankar (Vijayakumar), a village lad and Menaka (Phataphat Jayalakshmi), a modern woman are married. Menaka hates living with Ravishankar as he doesn't show interest in sex life. Meanwhile, Bhama (Sripriya), a young girl wants at least to have a child with Ramesh, attracted by him even if he doesn't marry her. As the title suggests, the film ends with these people overcoming all their issues and living happily, except Bhama who commits suicide.

Release

Mogam Muppadhu Varusham was released on 27 November 1976,[1] and became a commercial success.[3]
