The Melbourne Stars WBBL team is a women's cricket team based in Melbourne, Australia. It competes in the Twenty20 Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), under the same name and team colours as the Melbourne Stars team in the Big Bash League men's competition.[2]
One of eight founding teams in the league,[2] the WBBL team is coached by David Hemp,[3] and was captained for its first two seasons by Meg Lanning, also the captain of the Australia national women's cricket team.[4] Following Lanning's departure in 2017, Kristen Beams was appointed captain.[5]
