Matt Bomer filmography

Matt Bomer is an American actor and director who has appeared in film, television, and stage.[1] He made his stage debut in 1995 with Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire production of Alley Theatre.[2] After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 2001, Bomer went on to perform several roles on television in the 2000s, including All My Children (2000), Relic Hunter (2002), Guiding Light (2002–2003), Tru Calling (2003–2004) and North Shore (2004). He made his screen debut in Flightplan (2005) as a flight attendant,[3] his highest-grossing release.[4][5] In 2007, he had his first major role in David DiGilio's drama series, Traveler.[6][7] In the same year, he returning to the stage in a Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Crispin Whittell's play Villa America in Massachusetts.[8][9]

2009 marked a significant turning point in Bomer's career. Starring as the a con artist Neal Caffrey in the police procedural drama series White Collar.[10][11] He won a People's Choice Award at the 2015 ceremony.[12] In addition, Bomer produced 19 episodes of White Collar.[13] In 2011, Bomer was cast as a 105-year-old man in Andrew Niccol's science fiction thriller film In Time.[14] The following year, he starred as a stripper in Steven Soderbergh's comedy drama, Magic Mike (2012).[15] He next portrayed the New York Times reporter Felix Turner in Ryan Murphy's television film The Normal Heart (2014),[16][17] for which he received his first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film and his first Primetime Emmy Awards nomination.[18][19]

In 2015, he reprised his role of Ken in Magic Mike XXL.[20] He played for the first time a villain in the movie The Nice Guys (2016), as a psycho killer named John Boy,[21] and Matthew Cullen in Antoine Fuqua's Western action film The Magnificent Seven (2016),[22] playing Haley Bennett's character farmer husband.[22] Bomer played a hunter in Alex & Andrew Smith's drama Walking Out[23] and a trans woman in Timothy McNeil's drama Anything (both in 2017).[24][25] In 2018, he made his directorial debut in the second season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series American Crime Story (2016), about the murder of Gianni Versace.[26] Also in 2018, Bomer made his Broadway debut with a revival of The Boys in the Band.[27]
