Mataban District is a district in the central Hiran region of Hirshabelle state of Somalia. The Matabaan district is largely inhabited by Cayr sub-clan of Habar Gidir Hawiye. other clans who are present there include the Hawadle. The 5 district representatives in the Hirshabelle state assembly elected from matabaan District And the minister of rural development of Hirshabelle state are from the Cayr sub-clan of Habar Gidir.
