The Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) is a political party in India launched by Sharad Yadav in May 2018[5][6][7] after he parted ways from Janata Dal (United) due to its alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar.[8][9][10] On 31 July 2018, Bahujan Mukti Party merged with Loktantrik Janata Dal.[11][12] Electoral symbol of party is an Auto rickshaw.[13]

The Bahujan Mukti Party (BMP) was founded on 6 December 2012.[14] and was set up as a political wing of All India Backward (SC, ST, OBC) and Minority Communities Employees' Federation (BAMCEF).[15][16] V. L. Matang was the President of the party.[15][16][17] The BMP presented Arun Yadav as its Prime Ministerial candidate ahead of the 2014 general election.[15] The party announced that it intended to contest 400 Lok Sabha seats, none of which they won.[18][19] On 31 July 2018, Bahujan Mukti Party merged with Loktantrik Janata Dal in New Delhi.[20][21][22][23]
