List of ''Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger'' characters

The Lupinrangers and Patrangers, including Lupin/Patren X.

Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger (快盗戦隊ルパンレンジャーVS警察戦隊パトレンジャー, Kaitō Sentai Rupanrenjā Bui Esu Keisatsu Sentai Patorenjā) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama and the 42nd in the Super Sentai series. The series features two teams of heroes: The Lupinrangers, a band of gentleman thieves, and the Patrangers, a police task force. Each with their own reasons, the two groups compete against each other to retrieve the Lupin Collection (ルパンコレクション, Rupan Korekushon), a set of legendary and powerful artifacts which were stolen by Gangler, an interdimensional criminal organization that intends to take over Earth.

Lupinrangers

The Lupinrangers untransformed. From left to right, Toma Yoimachi, Kairi Yano and Umika Hayami.

The Lupinrangers are a team of thieves. A year ago, they decided to become the Lupinrangers to take back their precious loved ones who got involved in Gangler crimes committed by Zamigo Delma and disappeared. They now work as part-timers at a French restaurant, named Bistrot Jurer (ビストロ・ジュレ, Bisutoro Jure), in the neighborhood of the GSPO's Japan branch.

Each Lupinranger carries a gun-like VS Changer (VSチェンジャー, Bui Esu Chenjā), which they use to transform and access the powers of their VS Vehicles. Their sidearm is the saber-like Lupin Sword (ルパンソード, Rupan Sōdo), which doubles as a reacher. By setting the Good Striker into the VS Changer, a Lupinranger can create two clones of himself/herself to perform the Itadaki Strike (イタダキストライク, Itadaki Sutoraiku, Seizing Strike) finishing move along with the other two Lupinrangers. By setting the Jackpot Striker into the VS Changer, Lupin Red can merge with Lupin Blue and Lupin Yellow into the tricolored Lupin Tricolor (ルパントリコロール, Rupan Torikorōru).

Kairi Yano

Kairi Yano (夜野 魁利, Yano Kairi) is a 19-year-old impulsive, fearless young man who became a Lupinranger to take back his older brother named Shori Yano (夜野 勝利, Yano Shōri). He transforms into Lupin Red (ルパンレッド, Rupan Reddo).

Although he often lazes around while working at the Bistrot Jurer, Kairi takes his role as a Lupinranger seriously. Somewhat of a trickster, he uses unorthodox methods and often thinks on his feet. He also enjoys teasing Keiichiro both as a civilian and as a Lupinranger, but unexpectedly forms a friendship with him as the series progresses while keeping his identity a secret. However, he finally crosses the line when he took advantage of the latter's attempt to trust him, resulting in Patren 1gou's initial disdain for him to turn into genuine rage which the thief later regrets, though the policeman eventually calmed down after learning the thieves' real motives. Underneath all that personality and quirks, however, is a young man damaged by the tragic events surrounding his life: His parents died when he was a child and he saw his brother murdered right in front of him. Because of these, Kairi holds the heaviest grudge against Zamigo Delma out of the three, to the point where he recklessly tried to take on the latter by himself. Like his police counterpart, he is extremely resilient, possibly being the strongest of the seven given his number of victories in one-on-one battles including one with Patren 1gou.

Kairi Yano is portrayed by Asahi Itou (伊藤 あさひ, Itō Asahi). As a child, Kairi is portrayed by Hizuki Andō (安藤 陽月, Andō Hizuki).[1]

Toma Yoimachi

Toma Yoimachi (宵町 透真, Yoimachi Tōma) is a 24-year-old cool, scheming, sharp-tongued gentleman who became a Lupinranger to take back his fiancé named Aya Ohira (大平 彩, Ōhira Aya). He transforms into Lupin Blue (ルパンブルー, Rupan Burū).

Before the events of the series, Toma used to work at a famous French restaurant, named Ciel Bleu (シエル・ブル, Shieru Buru), but left at some point (possibly due to his fiancé's death). As the oldest of the Lupinrangers, he tends to be the most mature of the group and the voice of reason, but there are times where he makes bad judgments based on emotions alone, as shown when he repeatedly attempted to steal the VS Changers and Trigger Machines from the Patrangers which jeopardizes the thieves' mission and nearly exposes them until Kairi stops him. He also hates certain dishonorable acts such as the Gangler Manta Bayashi using his body to commit acts of womanizing which got him into trouble with the GSPO after being restored to normal.

Toma Yoimachi is portrayed by Shogo Hama (濱 正悟, Hama Shōgo). As a teenager, Toma is portrayed by Hikaru Yamazaki (山﨑 光, Yamazaki Hikaru).[2]

Umika Hayami

Umika Hayami (早見 初美花, Hayami Umika) is a 18-year-old stylish, curious girl who became a Lupinranger to take back her close friend named Shiho Ichinose (一ノ瀬 詩穂, Ichinose Shiho). She transforms into Lupin Yellow (ルパンイエロー, Rupan Ierō).

After becoming a Lupinranger, Umika dropped out of the Kohakugaoka Girl's High School (琥珀ヶ丘女子高校, Kohakugaoka Joshi Kōkō) and worked as a waitress at Bistrot Jurer, where she is often exhausted due to Kairi slacking off on his waiter's duty which leaves her shouldering his workload. She has a carefree personality and is most friendly with the Patrangers despite feeling uncomfortable with Sakuya hitting on her; she even tried once to set up a pianist friend of hers with Keiichiro upon learning of her crush on the latter. Of the three, she is so far the only member of the Lupinrangers who had fought alongside all the Patrangers (mainly Tsukasa) while managing to maintain her secret identity.

Umika Hayami is portrayed by Haruka Kudo (工藤 遥, Kudō Haruka). As a child, Umika is portrayed by Haruka Sasaki (佐々木 春樺, Sasaki Haruka).[3]

Kogure

Kogure (コグレ) is a butler who works for the descendants of Arsène Lupin and assists the Lupinrangers, placing the retrieved Lupin Collection items into a book he carries on his person.

Kogure is portrayed by Yoichi Nukumizu (温水 洋一, Nukumizu Yōichi).[4]

Global Special Police Organization

The Patrangers untransformed. From left to right, Tsukasa Myojin, Keiichiro Asaka and Sakuya Hikawa.

The Global Special Police Organization (国際特別警察機構, Kokusai Tokubetsu Keisatsu Kikō), abbreviated as GSPO, is an international police force headquartered in France that deals with the Gangler menace.

Patrangers

The Patrangers are a tactical unit of the GSPO Japan Branch that are permitted to take extralegal action against the Gangler menace. Like the Lupinrangers, each Patranger carries a VS Changer, which they use to transform and access the powers of their VS Vehicles. Their sidearm is the megaphone-like Pat Megabo (パトメガボー, Pato Megabō), which doubles as a baton. By setting the Good Striker into the VS Changer, Patren 1gou can merge with Patren 2gou and Patren 3gou into the tricolored Patren Ugou (パトレンU号, Patoren Yūgō) to perform the Ichigeki Strike (イチゲキストライク, Ichigeki Sutoraiku, One-Hit Strike) finishing move.

Keiichiro Asaka

Keiichiro Asaka (朝加 圭一郎, Asaka Keiichirō) is a hot-blooded, serious policeman who is the leader of the Patrangers. He transforms into the red-colored Patren 1gou (パトレン1号, Patoren Ichigō).

Keiichiro has a positive view of the peaceful use of the Lupin Collection but a negative view of the Lupinrangers, flying into a rage whenever the Lupinrangers pulls one over them. However, his view of the Lupinrangers changed after hearing Lupin Red's motives, becoming curious to know what sort of tragedy forced the latter to become a thief. Despite his temper, Keiichiro places his duties as a police officer first, prioritizing the Ganglers and the safety of any bystanders caught in the crossfire. His resilience, both physically and mentally, is so tough that it even impresses Kairi, who unexpectedly forms a friendship with him in his civilian identity despite secretly being the very thief he is trying to arrest. Keiichiro is quite dense when it comes to women. He appears to be aware of his flaws and would heed Tsukasa's advice even if he hates it as she is more rational than him. Later on, Keiichiro's attitude towards the Lupinrangers took a turn for the worse due to Lupin Red taking advantage of what little trust the former had in him more than once, though he still covers for Lupin Red when asked about the Trigger Machine the thief had stolen. This rage finally dies down after Keiichiro learns the Lupinrangers' tragic motives for stealing the Lupin Collection during the duel against Noel, realizing that they are more than just thieves.

Keiichiro Asaka is portrayed by Kousei Yuki (結木 滉星, Yūki Kōsei).[5] As a child, Keiichiro is portrayed by Ryuui Ushio (牛尾 竜威, Ushio Ryūi).

Sakuya Hikawa

Sakuya Hikawa (陽川 咲也, Hikawa Sakuya) is a cheerful, good-natured policeman who is Keiichiro and Tsukasa's junior and the Patrangers' sharp shooter and police car driver. He transforms into the green-colored Patren 2gou (パトレン2号, Patoren Nigō).

Sakuya has a positive view of the Lupinrangers, which more often than not leaves him at the mercy of Keiichiro's rantings whenever he accidentally expresses it in front of the latter, and has a crush on Umika, unaware of her true identity. He is also quite honest about his opinions, as shown when he pointed out that their jobs as police officers are to protect the people and not their own reputation after his team and Hilltop were criticized for letting the Lupinrangers be more popular than the GSPO. A laid-back individual, Sakuya is shown to be observant and quick-thinking, and has more often than not saved his team from danger on his own. When he finds out he had been duped, however, he becomes so provoked to the point where Keiichiro and Tsukasa are barely able to keep up with his actions despite being his superiors.

Sakuya Hikawa is portrayed by Ryo Yokoyama (横山 涼, Yokoyama Ryō).[6]

Tsukasa Myojin

Tsukasa Myojin (明神 つかさ, Myōjin Tsukasa) is a candid, caring policewoman who was a fellow student of Keiichiro at the police school. She transforms into the pink-colored Patren 3gou (パトレン3号, Patoren Sangō).

Tsukasa has a neutral view of the Lupinrangers which slowly progresses to positive, having fought alongside one of their members the most, and usually sports a calm and collected demeanor, unless when she is engaged into her secret hobby of collecting and hugging stuffed toys, during which she shows a childish side and will squeal out strange sentences. She also has an irrational fear of ghosts. Tsukasa has to deal with her male colleagues' antics from time to time, especially when Keiichiro's temper flares up. Because of this, she often worries for Keiichiro, as the latter's stubborn resilience meant that he does not know when to retreat. Her grandfather was a policeman, and she was brought up by her grandparents after her parents died when she was a child.

Tsukasa Myojin is portrayed by Kazusa Okuyama (奥山 かずさ, Okuyama Kazusa).[7] As a child, Tsukasa is portrayed by Riko Awano (粟野 莉子, Awano Riko).

Director Hilltop

Director Samuel Hilltop (サミュエル・ヒルトップ管理官, Samyueru Hirutoppu-kanrikan) is the Patrangers' direct superior, tasked with overseeing their activities. Although an easy-going man with a penchant for wagashi, he is shown to understand his subordinates more than they realize, and often watches out for them.

Director Hilltop is portrayed by Ike Nwala (アイクぬわら, Aiku Nuwara).[4]

Jim Carter

Jim Carter (ジム・カーター, Jimu Kātā) is the Patrangers' robotic assistant.

Jim Carter is voiced by Rie Kugimiya (釘宮 理恵, Kugimiya Rie).[4]

Noël Takao

Noël Takao in his GSPO uniform.

Noël Takao (高尾 ノエル, Takao Noeru) is a mysterious 26-year-old special investigator from the GSPO French HQ as well as a phantom thief who serves the Lupin family like Kogure, who he seems to have a personal connection to. He arrived in Japan to aid both the Lupinrangers and the Patrangers for reasons currently unknown while keeping the former group's identities a secret from the latter group. He is also acquainted with Good Striker, being the man who created the VS Changers and some of the VS Vehicles along with some other items in the Lupin Collection. However, much of him is a mystery, and both Kairi and Keiichiro were slow to trust him. Like the other Lupinrangers, it seems that he also have lost someone to the Ganglers, and it is believed that his main goal is to unite the Lupinrangers and the Patrangers as one true Super Sentai against them.

Using his own transformation gun known as the X Changer (Xチェンジャー, Ekkusu Chenjā), Noël is capable of transforming into either a gold-colored Patranger known as Patren X (パトレンエックス, Patoren Ekkusu) or a silver-colored Lupinranger known as Lupin X (ルパンエックス, Rupan Ekkusu). His sidearm is the X Rod Sword (Xロッドソード, Ekkusu Roddo Sōdo), which has two modes that are each compatible with one of his different forms: a jitte-like Rod Mode wielded by Patren X, whose finishing move is the Excellent X (エクセレントエックス, Ekuserento Ekkusu), and a saber-like Sword Mode wielded by Lupin X, whose finishing move is the Superior X (スペリオルエックス, Superioru Ekkusu).

Noël Takao is portrayed by Seiya Motoki (元木 聖也, Motoki Seiya).[8]

Satoru Shinonome

Satoru Shinonome (東雲 悟, Shinonome Satoru) was an original member of the Tactical Unit that would later become the Patrangers and a candidate for the position of Patren 2gou, but he was replaced by Sakuya due to his transfer to the GSPO French HQ after he was injured in the line of duty from battling Zonic Lee. This character only appears in the web-exclusive series Keisatsu Sentai Patranger Feat. Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger: Another Patren 2gou.

Satoru Shinonome is portrayed by Hirotaka Hatano (秦野 浩孝, Hatano Hirotaka).

VS Vehicles

The VS Vehicles (VSビークル, Bui Esu Bīkuru) are artifacts from the Lupin Collection that both the Lupinrangers and the Patrangers use to transform, as well as power up their weapons. They can also grow in size to be piloted by their users and combine into several mecha with Good Striker's help.[9]

Dial Fighters

The Dial Fighters (ダイヤルファイター, Daiyaru Faitā) are the Lupirangers' personal aircraft-shaped VS Vehicles that can be used to open safes, allowing the Lupinrangers to decode and unlock a Gangler member's safe. If an auxiliary Dial Fighter is set into the VS Changer, it activates a Kaitou Boost (快盗ブースト, Kaitō Būsuto) which enables a Lupinranger to either arm themselves with a special weapon or perform a finishing move.

Trigger Machines

The Trigger Machines (トリガーマシン, Torigā Mashin) are the Patrangers' personal land vehicle-shaped VS Vehicles. It is currently in the possession of the Lupinrangers.

Good Striker

Good Striker (グッドストライカー, Guddo Sutoraikā), nicknamed "Goodie" (グッティ, Gutti) by Umika, is a living puppet in the Lupin Collection who Kogure explained to be a free-spirited entity who acts on his own whims. Depending on the situation, he supports the team whose actions impress him the most. He currently lives with the Lupinrangers, although they allow him to aid the Patrangers whenever he wishes to. He appears to have a fear of Kogure, as he immediately took off upon hearing the latter's name before the Lupinrangers could react during his debut.

Being compatible to the two teams' VS Changers, Good Striker can aid the Lupinrangers or the Patrangers depending on his mood whenever he appears in the midst of a battle. He can also transform himself into a large-sized VS Vehicle with both Dial Fighter and Trigger Machine modes, allowing him to combine with either team's VS Vehicles to form a giant robot. In Dial Fighter mode, his activation code is 3-2-1.

Lupin Magnum

The Lupin Magnum (ルパンマグナム, Rupan Magunamu) is a pistol-like device considered to be the most powerful item in the entire Lupin Collection, which becomes Lupin Red's personal weapon after he clears the final test left by Arsène Lupin to obtain it. By combining it with the VS Changer, he can perform one of two Lupin Fever (ルパンフィーバー, Rupan Fībā) finishing moves: Itadaki Do-Do-Do-Strike (イタダキド・ド・ドストライク, Itadaki Do-do-do-sutoraiku, Seizing Big Big Big Strike), which allows him to destroy normal-sized Gangler, or Ikasama Do-Strike (イカサマドストライク, Ikasama Do-sutoraiku, Trickery Big Strike), which allows him to destroy giant-sized Gangler. Gangler

The Interdimensional Crime Group Gangler (異世界犯罪者集団ギャングラー, Isekai Hanzaisha Shūdan Gyangurā) are an interdimensional criminal organization established five centuries ago, based in a mansion located in dimension known as Back World (裏の世界, Ura no Sekai). Able to assume human form, the Gangler members stole the Lupin Collection and divided the items amongst themselves. Each member places a stolen Lupin item inside a built-in safe on their body to access the item's power for their use, the safe being impenetrable unless forced open by someone possessing a Dial Fighter or a special electronic device used by Lupin X. While most members have one safe, Noël labels the members that possess two build-in safes as Status Double (ステイタス・ダブル, Suteitasu Daburu) while the higher ranked members are designated as Status Gold (ステイタス・ゴールド, Suteitasu Gōrudo) for possessing golden build-in safes that can only be opened with two Dial Fighters combined. When the Ganglers' founding leader Dogranio Yabun decides to retire, he offers to select his heir from whomever among the Gangler membership can take over Earth. Each piece of the Lupin Collection stolen by Gangler is named after a famous song's name translated to french and has its design inspired by an item used by the previous Super Sentai teams.

Dogranio Yabun

Dogranio Yabun (ドグラニオ・ヤーブン, Doguranio Yābun) is the Ganglers' founding leader, having led the organization for five centuries. But now 999 years old, still extremely powerful despite his old age, Dogranio decides to retire and sets up the contest among his subordinates to select an heir to his organization among which Gangler member successfully takes over Earth. While Dogranio was initially content to sit back and watch events unfold, the constant interference of the Lupinrangers and Patrangers ultimately convince him to reconsider his plans after seeing the threat the two Super Sentai teams pose collectively when they destroyed Laimon.
