Naoki Tanaka (田中 直樹, Tanaka Naoki) is a Japanese comedian, actor and television presenter who is the leader and the boke of the owarai kombi Cocorico with his partner Shozo Endo. He has appeared in many television programmes and films. He is known for be a regular member of Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!, which he and Endo works since 1997.

Tanaka is also known for his love animals, especially sea creatures, and at 2018, June, 24 he became the Marine Stewardship Council ambassador on Japan. [2]

Biography

Born in Shōnai, Toyonaka, Osaka, at April, 26, 1971, the youngest of three children. Tanaka met Endo at Toshima Elementary school, they played baseball at their school team, Tanaka were the vice captain playing as a catcher. At high school, Tanaka studied at Sakurazuka High School and played handball. Tanaka studied design on a vocational school.

After his graduation, with the age of 20, Tanaka were invited by Endo to move to Tokyo where they was selected by the Yoshimoto Kogyo auditions and created his comedy duo, originally named as "Cocorico Bombers", but they were advised to shorten their name. At Tokyo, Tanaka also worked as waiter, on two different restaurants.

Tanaka acted on the movie Minna no Ie, and won the Japan Academy Awards prizes of newcoming of the year and popularity categories.

At May, 2003 Tanaka announced his marriage with the tarento Shie Kohinata [3], who worked with him at the comedy show Cocorico Miracle Type, at June of the same year and they had 2 children, the eldest born at June, 2004 and youngest at April, 24, 2008.

At 2017, may, Tanaka sent a fax announcing their divorce, apologizing for the inconvenience and saying that him and Kohinata wanted to fulfill their duties as father and mother. Different from the usual on Japan, Tanaka got the custody of his children. The reason of divorce weren't revealed. The news of the divorce surprised people of Japan because Tanaka and Kohinata were known as a happy living couple.
