List of Hewitts in Northern Ireland

Hewitts are Hills in England, Wales and Ireland (at least) 2,000 ft (609.6 m) high with a relative height of at least 30 m (98 ft). The original list, covering only England and Wales, was compiled by Alan Dawson and originally published in The Relative Hills of Britain under the name Sweats.[1] The list was subsequently renamed Hewitts to include Ireland, updated, and published in a series of three booklets edited by Dave Hewitt: The Hewitts and Marilyns of Wales,[2] The Hewitts and Marilyns of England[3] and The Hewitts and Marilyns of Ireland.[4]

There are 211 Hewitts in Ireland, 19 of which lie in Northern Ireland:

Region 43 (Armagh, Down, Antrim)

Region 44 (Londonderry, Tyrone, Fermanagh)

  • Dart Mountain619 m (2,031 ft)
  • Mullaghclogha – 635 m (2,083 ft)
  • Mullaghaneany – 627 m (2,057 ft)
  • Meenard Mountain – 625 m (2,051 ft)

One further Hewitt lies on the border, and is the highest point of two counties Cavan and Fermanagh and of the border itself:
