Industry

Dairy

In 1916, Steve Siudzinski purchased the Langes Corners Cheese Factory, which he renamed Steve's Cheese.[3] In 1934, Siudzinski began making large blocks of cheese as a promotional stunt, starting with 2,000-pound and 3,800-pound blocks of cheese.[3][4] These large cheeses were often purchased by grocery stores or other groups to aid in promotions and sales.[5] Siudzinski often partnered with Kraft Foods Inc to help bring in enough milk to produce the blocks of cheese.[5] In 1964, Siudzinski made the world's largest block of cheese for the 1964 New York World's Fair, which weighed 34,591 pounds.[3][4]

In 2000, Steve's Cheese was bought by the Smits family, and they moved the offices and store to the village of Denmark, Wisconsin.[3] The factory is still in use by BelGioioso Cheese today.
