Khandowa (Urdu: کھنڈوعہ) is a town in a Kallar Kahar Tehsil of Chakwal District. The town has a beautiful scenery including many historical lakes and resorts. This is 8 km far from Kallar Kahar, 36 km from Chakwal, 114 km from Islamabad and 101 km from Rawalpindi in north direction.

Name

The literally meaning of Khandowa is lip cut or a person whose upper lip is divided into two parts.[1] It is due to because in past, it was the homeland of people belongs to Hinduism and Jainism.

People

Mostly people of Awan tribe are settled here. People belonging to this village are mostly employees in Pakistan Army while the rest of the population are interested in livestock farming.

Status

It has a great attraction for tourists as it ia a place of many beautiful valleys. Here the famous lake of Swaik is also present.[2][3]
