Kepler-438 is a red dwarf in the constellation Lyra, about 470 light years from Earth.[5] Kepler-438b is the 1000th exo planet discovered and it was discovered in 2015 by NASA'S Kepler space telescopes.[6] It is notable for its planetary system, which includes Kepler-438b, a possibly Earth-size planet within Kepler-438's habitable zone. Alongside the discovery of Kepler-438 came the discovery of another exoplanet, Kepler-442b, both of which orbit smaller stars than of our own star.[7]

The system has one confirmed planet however transit timing observations of Kepler-438b indicate the possible presence of additional planets.[8]
