Kāmoke (Urdu: كاموكى), is a town of Gujranwala District located in Punjab, Pakistan, it has a population of 167,300.[2] The city is the capital of Kamoke Tehsil which is an administrative subdivision of the district, the city is itself subdivided into 8 Union Councils.[3] The city is located on the Grand Trunk Road 21 km from Gujranwala and 44 km from Lahore.

Kamoke city was settled in Mughal era of Akbar, The Great.Since that time the city is continuously growing in population.It was announced as tehsil Headquarters in the duration of MPA Ch.Abdul-Wakeel khan in 1992.


Administration

Kamonki is administered by Town Municipal Administration under City District Government Gujranwala. It has Tehsil Civil Courts, its own circle of police, and a tehsil headquarters hospital.

Communication

Kamoke is situated at the Grand Trunk (G.T.) Road, about 49 Kilometer in the North from Lahore. It is almost at equal distances from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and Sialkot International Airport . Air passenger can choose anyone from these both airports. Kamoki is also located at the main Lahore Rawalpindi Railway Line. G.T. Road is the 1st and the best option to get there. At the telecommunication side, it is connected to the whole world via Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) and other five cellular networks i.e. Mobilink, Telenor, Zong, Ufone and Warid for the voice as well as data transmission. All telecommunication is 4G enabled nowadays.

Trade and Industry

Kamoke is famous for its supreme quality rice which are grown in its surrounding areas. Kamoke is also the largest rice market in the Sub-continent where almost all delicious and aromatic kinds of rice, which include, Basmati, Super Basmati, Karnal etc. are grown, processed and exported to the whole world. Native as well as foreign businessmen in the rice industry are earning good profits out of this business. The Master tiles Industry is very big Industry of kamoki. Which are giving living hood for many families of this city. Kamoki is also famous for its "BARFI" which is a milk product obtained by boiling milk on at a moderate flame for longer periods to get the milk in semi-solid form and then sugar is mixed to get the product ready for marketing. "Sheikhan di Barfi" had been very famous since long which had been eaten and even couriered to friends and loved ones overseas.
