Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.

The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an admission test to Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) and other institutes. IITs started conducting the JAM in the 2004 - 2005 academic session. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual-degree and other post-graduate programs based on the performance in a single test. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate-level science education in the country.

The IIT JAM 2019 Exam will be conducted by the prestigious IIT Kharagpur. This is the first time when IIT Kharagpur will be playing the role of organizing institute. For the year 2018, IIT Bombay was the institute which conducted the JAM Exam. The exam is scheduled each year in the month of February.

As per IIT JAM 2019, following are the full-time M.Sc. (two-year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., and other post-bachelor's degree programs at different IITs, and Integrated Ph.D. Programs at IISc to which admission shall be made on the basis of JAM.[1]
