John Madejski Academy (formerly Thamesbridge College) is an academy in Reading, Berkshire, England. It specialises in sport and has a capacity for approximately 1100 students aged 11–18.[1]
History
The school was formerly named Thamesbridge college, and before that it was known as Ashmead. Alumni include Ricky Gervais and Iain Waite.
In November 2017 the school came out of measures following a positive OFSTED inspection.
The current headteacher is Laura Ellener.
Architecture
The building was designed by international architecture firm Wilkinson Eyre[2] and it was shortlisted for an award at the World Architecture Festival 2008.[3]
