This Navodaya school was part of the Surguja district before the Surajpur district's creation on 15 August 2011.[2]

History

The school opened with 40 students on June 25, 1992.

Instruction

Grades run from 6 to 7 standard as per CBSE syllabus. The medium of instruction is Hindi for Social Studies and Humanities, and English for Mathematics and Science.

Governance

The school runs under a scheme developed by the government of India under which private, co-educational Navodaya Vidyalaya establishments operate, averaging one establishment in each district.

Facilities

The school has around 32 acres (130,000 m2) of land, and is equipped with a central building, hostels (Boys & Girls), a staff residence, a guest house, well-equipped labs, an art gallery and sports facilities with a gymnasium and more.

Migration

The Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme provides transport for 32% children from schools located in the Hindi belt to a school in the non-Hindi belt at class 9 level. This school accepts students from JNV, Sonitpur, Assam. As a result Assamese is the third language for the students up to class 9. The school allows students to enroll in the neighbouring cluster schools after class 10 where students can opt for continuing study other than science stream. These schools are JNV Raipur and JNV Bilaspur for Commerce and Humanity streams, respectively. In the first migration of the 3rd batch (1st and 2nd batch not migrated), a student named Alexander Bara was lost from Assam Sonitpur.

Principals

Mr. V S Ranawat was the first principal of the school, followed by Mr. S S Sai Pankraj who served for 10 years. At last the principal was Smt. K.N. Sreedevi, who dedicated her life for school and its members. Now at present principal is Sh. D.K. Sahu.
