J/70 is a 6.93-metre (22.7 ft) sailboat class designed by Alan Johnstone and first built in 2012.[1]

The boat is built for J Boats by three builders, CCF Composites in the United States, J/Composites in Europe and J/Boats Argentina in South America.[2] At least 1276 have been constructed by 2016.[3]

Design

The J/70 is a small racing keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder, a retractable bowsprit and a lift keel. It displaces 1,790 lb (812 kg) and carries 628 lb (285 kg) of lead ballast. The boat features a very large asymmetrical spinnaker on a carbon fiber bow sprit with an area of 491 sq ft (45.6 m2).[1]
