Haut-Lac International Bilingual School is a private school located in Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It was founded in 1993. Students come from about forty-five different nationalities and the school promotes intercultural awareness and sensitivity. The school provides academic instruction in two different languages including English and French. The language proportion and course curriculum are different for different age groups. Students also wear uniforms, which is uncommon practice in Switzerland.[1]
History
The school was established in 1993 with the aim of providing quality education to the variety of students that come from all over the world. The school initially started with just 13 students. In 2002, it became authorized to run the IB Middle Years Programme. Two years later, it got authorization to run IB Diploma Programme.
The secondary school campus has been opened in 2003 in the village of St-Légier. In 2005, a new building was added for the programming and the science laboratories. Later, additional; buildings were added, including a large library, technology laboratories, study rooms, and exclusive space for language lessons and practice. In 2014, the school opened new campus which is created for students of infant and primary school.[2] In 2014, a new primary school campus has been opened near the secondary school campus. The campus includes a big dining room for 150 people, a small dining room for the infant section for 80 students, a triple gym hall with a climbing wall, and 35 classrooms. The building got the Swiss Minergie certification.

HLIBS's (upper) secondary education (Middle and High School) is not approved as a Mittelschule/Collège/Liceo by the Swiss Federal State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).[3]
International
Haut-Lac International Bilingual School is completely authorized by International Baccalaureate Organization and can deliver programmes at diploma level and middle years (e-assessment).[4] Additionally, it has membership in several organizations, including:

Campus and Facilities
This school started with a single building and now includes three campuses: Primary School Campus, Secondary School Campus and the campus where the nursery school is located.[5] School has more than six hundred and fifty students and around 100 teachers and there are about fifty staff members.[1]
Secondary School Campus
Secondary school campus comprises sufficient space for the science labs, a multipurpose hall, a music room, meeting room and many classrooms. This campus contains modern facilities for better learning. The students can also use Experts IT rooms and CAD technology connected to laser cutter with the plastic former in the technology lab, and in this way they are given a first-hand experience. The campus accommodates students between ages twelve and eighteen.[6] Recently, two small buildings have been renovated adjacent to the main campus. One is dedicated to language lessons and individual study while the other is for the older students to sit comfortably and study.
Primary School Campus
The Primary Campus along with the sports facilities for the whole school were established in 2014. It is located close to the secondary school building and has four floors. It includes several classrooms, a library, a uniform shop, specialist arts and music rooms, numerous offices and a kitchen for teachers and staff. This campus is used by the students who are seven to eleven years old. The big and wide cafeteria is designed in a way that can be used as a conference room and even as a theater if needed. A large sports hall is built according to international standards and can be divided into three sections for various training sessions and individual classes. The building has been certified Minergie.
Nursery
A nursery is also a part of Haut-Lac International Bilingual School and it was established in 2014. It includes a daycare where children of 18 months to 3 years are given an introduction of their educational journey. After the nursery school, children go to the infant school, which is built for the students between 3 and 6 years of age. Special activities and theme-based programmes are offered to enhance the social skills of the children.
Students are provided either a 50/50 split language course or a predominantly English course with one French lecture per day. The curriculum is designed to enhance the personal development, skills, understanding of the world, and physical development.[7]
Sports
Competitive sports programs are offered. Special training sessions and matches are conducted to provide students the opportunities to test their skills. Healthy competitions are held to provide them favorable environment. Some important values that the students learn here by different sports competitions include team management, sportsmanship, leadership, and patience.[1]
