Frank Ed Mrvan Jr. (born April 11, 1933) is a Democratic member of the Indiana Senate, representing the 1st District since 1999. He previously served from 1979 through 1995. Redistricting passed by the Indiana General Assembly in 2011 shifted the district's boundaries, effective January 2013. The district was changed to include Hammond's 4th, 5th, 6th city districts, the town of Munster, the town of Highland, the west side of the town of Griffith, the north side of the town of Dyer, parts of the town of Schererville, and part of the City of Crown Point.
Early life, education, and pre-legislative career
Mrvan was born in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of the late Frank and the late Antonina (née Spychalski) Mrvan. He's of Czechoslovakia and Polish descent. He was educated at Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana. He attended Indiana University and the American Institute of Banking.
Mrvan enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was an Airman 1st Class (E-3)
Mrvan's professional experience includes working as a Union Member for the Mobil Oil Company, Cost Accountant for M and T Chemical Company and Bank Financial Officer for National City Indiana.
