Rama Rao and Vanisri in the lead roles, with music composed by K. V. Mahadevan.[5] This film is the debut of Aswini Dutt's Vyjayanthi Movies banner in the film industry.[6][7] The film was a remake of the Hindi movie Johny Mera Naam (1970).[8]

Plot

Shekar (N. T. Rama Rao) is a gambler who steals from the rich and feeds the poor. In his childhood, his father (Satyanarayana) used to work as a railway gateman. Once, two deadly gangsters Ranga (Prabhakar Reddy) and Sarkar (Kanta Rao), while escaping from Police, try to open the railway forcefully, when Shekar's father obstructs them, they kill him. At that time, Shekar notices the symbol of the gang. Seeing this incident, Shekar escapes along with younger brother Gopi, in the chase, Gopi and Shekar are separated. Now Shekar is in search of those criminals who killed his father. He attacks all the gangs, checks for that symbol and surrenders them to police without giving his identity. Gopi (Jaggayya) is raised by a lorry driver Bhadrayya (Allu Ramalingaiah) and becomes a police officer. The Govt. appoints him as a special officer to catch these smuggling gangs. Meanwhile, Shekar gets acquainted with a beautiful girl Latha (Vanisri), who comes in various forms of disguise before him while performing her smuggling activities. Shekar follows her like white on rice and Gopi shadows both. Slowly Shekar and Latha fall in love. When he asks her why she is doing all these activities, she replies that she is in the trap of deadly gang headed by Ranga and Sarkar, who are acting as respectable persons in society. They are blackmailing her by making a death threat to her family. Shekar promises that she will protect Latha. Shekar joins in that gang and slowly passes on the information to Gopi. Once in a police ride, Gopi arrests Ranga’s son Vasu (Jaya Bhaskar). At the same time, Ranga and Sarkar come to know that Shekar is in search of a person who killed his father, who is none other than themselves and he also has a younger brother. So, Ranga uses this situation, creates Vasu as his younger brother and makes Shekar believe it. Shekar cleverly frees Vasu from the jail and Gopi chases him. In that quarrel, Shekar recognizes Gopi as his real brother and also comes to know Ranga is only the person who killed their father. At last, Shekar, with the help of Gopi and Latha catches the entire gang and takes his revenge against Ranga and Sarkar. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Shekar and Latha.
