East Newton is a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) north-west of Withernsea town centre. It lies to the east of the B1242 road on the North Sea coast.
East Newton forms part of the civil parish of Aldbrough.
History
The daily life of East Newton in the seventeenth century is well recorded as Alice Thornton's diaries are extant, and cover her time here from 1662 to her death in 1707. She was the daughter of Christopher Wandesford, Lord Deputy of Ireland, and married William Thornton in 1651.[1]
