E. Krishnasamy better known as Kicha is an Indian Cinematographer, who primarily works in Tamil Film Industry[1]. Graduated with Diploma in Film Technology in Cinematography from Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. He started his career as a cinematographer in the film Pattalam[2].

Early life

Even before he graduated, Krishnasamy started assisting Cinematographer S. Saravanan in the film Vallarasu, when he was in his final year of D.F.Tech,.and went ahead working with Saravanan for the films such as Maayi, vaanchinathan, Pammal K. Sambandam, Madurey, Priyamana Thozhi, Vishnu. Then he continued with Cinematographer R. Madhi in the films Oru Kalluriyin Kathai, Kalabha Kadhalan and Veyil. After working for various films in south film industry Krishnasamy later joined his batch mate Ayananka Bose, who started working as independent Cinematographer in Bollywood, and worked for Hindi films such as Main Aisa Hi Hoon, Umrao Jaan, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Tashan and so on.

Career

After assisting senior Cinematographers for various films, Krishnasamy turned independent cinematographer with the Tamil Film Pattalam[3], Directed by Debutant Rohan Krishna, which has Nadhiya Moidu in lead, produced by Director N. Lingusamy through his production company Thirrupathi Brothers.The film revolves around bunch of school student and their school life [4]. Then he did romance action film Kandhakottai which had Nakul and Poorna in lead role [5]. He joined with cinematographer Vetri in the film Muni 2: Kanchana,[6] the second sequel in Muni (film series) and completed the project and shared the credits with him[7].

He did 6 a Tamil crime thriller film about child trafficking directed by V. Z. Durai, Initially R. Madhi signed as cinematographer. It stars Shaam and Poonam Kaur in the lead roles. This film sees the lead character sport six different looks and going around six different states to solve a mystery. The film received positive reviews[8]. With mentioning, camera work gives the movie, the rough and gritty look that the director must have envisioned[9]. Krishnasamy associated with Vetri in his films as a Second Unit Cameraman, likely in Veeram, Vedalam and Vivegam.

Currently he is working in the film Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu 2[10] Tamil action sports drama film directed by Selva Sekaran. A sequel to Director Suseenthiran's Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2009 film. This sequel features Vikranth, Arthana Binu, Pasupathy, Kishore, Soori in the lead roles[11].
