Zareena Moidu (born 24 October 1966), known by her stage name Nadhiya, is an Indian film actress who predominantly appears in Malayalam, and Tamil films. She has also acted in a few Telugu films. She made her debut in the Malayalam film Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu (1984), alongside Mohanlal and Padmini. This movie was re-made in Tamil as Poove Poochudava in 1985 with Padmini and marked her debut in Tamil.[1] She has acted alongside most of the leading artists in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. After her marriage in 1988, she settled in United States with her husband Shirish Godbole and two daughters.

She made her comeback in Tamil with the 2004 blockbuster hit M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, which also won her critical acclaim for her performance as Jayam Ravi's mother.[2] In 2008, she signed on as the brand ambassador for Arokya Milk and Thangamayil Jewellery. Nadhiya hosts a popular television show called Jackpot, replacing actress Khushboo on Jaya TV. In 2013, she received critical acclaim for both the roles she played, one as actor Prabhas's mother in the Tollywood film Mirchi and also for playing the role of a stubborn aunt in Attarintiki Daredi. She received the Nandi Award for her performance in Attarintiki Daredi.[3]

Personal life

Nadhiya was born to Malayali parents and spent her childhood in Sion before moving in to Chembur, Mumbai, later. Her parents live in Chembur.[4] Her father N. K. Moidu, is a Muslim and her mother Lalitha is a Hindu. Her father is from Thalassery and mother is from Tiruvalla. She has a younger sister, Haseena who is settled in Doha. She had her primary education from The J. B. Vachha High School for Parsi Girls, Mumbai and her pre university degree from Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art. She couldn't continue her college studies after that as she became busy with movies by then.[5] Later she did associated degree in Media Management and B.A. in Communication Arts - Radio & Television, when she was in United States.

She got married to Shirish Godbole, an investment banker from Maharashtra in 1988. The couple has two daughters, Sanam (b.1996) and Jana (b.2001). After her marriage, she settled in United States with her husband and daughters. Later they moved to London, United Kingdom.[6] Currently she resides in Mumbai with her family.[7]
