The Dishiishe (Somali: Dishiishe, Arabic: ﺩﺷﻴﺸﻲ,; also spelled Dashiishe, Dishishe, )[1] is a Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Harti confederation of Darod sub-clans, and primarily inhabit the Puntland region in northeastern Somalia and Dhofar region in Sultanate of Oman where largely inhabit by Dishiishe sub-clan of Muhdi.[2]

Territory

Ugaas or dishiishe head-clan serves as the nominal Ugaas of Harti clan of Darod families

Dishiishe members traditionally inhabit the northeastern region of Bari, northern Sanaag, Omani region of Dhofar and parts of Yemen, Others can also be found in Kismayo in southern Somalia. Dishiishe is recognised or considered as the indigenous clan of Bosaso as they were first settlers of the town and founded it early 14th century.

There is no clear agreement on the clan and sub-clan structures and many lineages are omitted. The following listing is taken from the World Bank's Conflict in Somalia: Drivers and Dynamics from 2005 and the United Kingdom's Home Office publication, Somalia Assessment 2001.[3][4]
