Daniel "Dani" Olmo Carvajal (born 7 May 1998) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb as a winger.
Club career
Born in Terrassa, Barcelona, Catalonia, Olmo arrived in FC Barcelona's youth academy aged 9, from neighbours RCD Espanyol. In a surprise move, he joined Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2014. He made a first team debut vs NK Lokomotiva on 7 February 2015.[1] On 22 August 2016, Olmo signed a new, four-year contract with Dinamo Zagreb.[2]
International career
Olmo was part of the Spanish squad at the 2015 European Under-17 Championship in Bulgaria; he netted in the penalty shootout as they were eliminated by Germany in the quarter-finals, but then had his attempt saved by Will Huffer as Spain lost to England by the same means in a play-off for that year's World Cup for the category.[3]
In the end of 2017, Dinamo Zagreb Director Tomislav Svetina said that the club was doing all it could to get the teenager citizenship. Olmo himself showed desire to swich to Croatia on international level.[4]
Personal life
Olmo's father, Miquel, was also a footballer. A forward, he played professionally for lower league teams.[5]
