Lists Hospitals in Australia

Calvary Wakefield Hospital (previously Wakefield Hospital) is a private Catholic hospital in Adelaide, Australia founded in 1883.[1] It provides acute care with inpatient and outpatient facilities. It also provides dental care and plastic and reconstructive surgery to patients. It is one of four private hospitals in South Australia under the Calvary name.

Since its 2006 acquisition from Ramsay Health Care, the hospital has been one of the Little Company of Mary (LCM) Health Care providers overseen by the international religious institute Sisters of the Little Company of Mary.[2] Prior to its acquisition, the 180-bed hospital was called Wakefield Hospital.[3] According to LCM Health Care, it "is the oldest private hospital in South Australia."[4]

Little Company of Mary Health Care (Australia) is developing a replacement for Calvary Wakefield Hospital through Commercial & General developers and John Holland construction. The new hospital, in Angas Street, Adelaide will be next to the South Australia Police headquarters, and is due to open in early 2019, with 250+ beds, a 220-space carpark and a 350-space carpark developed by Commercial & General nearby.[5] In August 2018, the new Calvary Hospital Adelaide celebrated its "topping out" ceremony.
