History
The station received CRTC approval on October 7, 2009.[1] It officially launched on October 1, 2010 as Live 105 with a modern rock format. By 2016, the station shifted towards a mainstream rock format but kept the "Live 105" branding and began to add more classic rock and hard active rock music to its playlist to more effectively compete with rival station CFRQ-FM. The station's slogan at this time was "Halifax's Best Rock."
On August 10, 2018, at 1:05pm AST CKHY-FM rebranded to Rock 105.1 Halifax's Rock Station continuing as a mainstream rock station.
Evanov Radio Group (HFX Broadcasting) also owns and operates sister station CKHZ-FM.
