C. H. Sekar is an Indian politician and was a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Gummidipundi constituency from 2011. He represented the Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam party.[1]

Background

C. H. Sekar born in Raipur in 1979. He is an entrepreneur and has various businesses. He holds an Engineer degree in mechanical engineering.

Political career

Sekar entered politics in 2004 and joined the Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam party when it was formed in 2005.. He contested the Assembly Elections under DMDK ticket in 2006 for the first time, when he was 27 years old. He was then the District Secretary of the party. Without any alliance with major parties, he secured 23,000 votes, which was then one of the top achievements of DMDK. During the 2011 Assembly elections, he contested under DMDK ticket and secured nearly 100,000 votes (55% of vote share) and won with a margin of over 30,000 votes margin.[2]

The elections of 2016 resulted in his constituency being won by K. S. Vijaya Kumar.[3]

Achievements

At that time of elections, Sekar promised to get the a bus depot to connect the rural areas, a sports stadium to promote sports among youth and to make Periyapalayam temple a tourist centre. Within two years, he obtained the approval from the Government for the same.[2]
