Bhichai Rattakul (Thai: พิชัย รัตตกุล, RTGS: Phichai Rattakun, IPA: [pʰí.t͡ɕʰaj rát.tà.kun]; born 16 September 1926) is a Thai politician who served as the deputy prime minister between 1983 and 1990 and 1997–2000, served as leader of the Democrat Party between 1982 and 1991, and served as World President of Rotary International (the first and the only Thai) between 2000 and 2001.

Life and career

Bhichai Rattakul was born on 16 September 1926 into a Thai Chinese family. He graduated from Bangkok Christian College and Saint Stephen School in Hong Kong. He is married to Khunying Jaruay Rattakul and has 2 sons and 1 daughter, whose names are Bhichit Rattakul, Anatchai Rattakul and Khunying Patchari Wongphaitoon.
