Awdheegle (also Awdhegele) is a town in the Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia with about 19,000 inhabitants. It is located west of Mogadishu on the Shebelle River.
As of 9 March 2016, the town is controlled by the al-Shabaab Islamist militant group.[1]
