- nb Conflicting sources exist, some show a Mexican "Hortensia García" as the women's javelin winner with a throw of 39.45 m, Bert as runner-up with 38.08 m and Chiú as the bronze medallist with 37.78 m. This contradicts official reports, which show no such performance or athlete, but a "Hortensia López" of Mexico in sixth with a mark of 32.68 m.[1]
