Ashley Mae Sebera (born November 29, 1988)[1] is an American bodybuilder, fitness competitor,[5] model, and professional wrestler. She is signed to WWE under the ring name Dana Brooke and performs on the Raw brand.[3]

Early life

Sebera was born and raised in Seven Hills, Ohio and attended Kent State University, where she graduated in 2011 with a major in fashion, merchandising and design, and a minor in business administration.[6] As well as a short tenure as a diver, Sebera participated in gymnastics for eighteen years. After sustaining numerous injuries, including breaking both of her ankles, Sebera gave up gymnastics and instead took up fitness competition and bodybuilding.[6]

Body fitness career

Between 2011 and 2012, Sebera held several championships within the National Physique Committee (NPC), before earning an International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness (IFBB) pro card in 2012. She placed twelfth at the 2013 European Arnold Classic, and thirteenth at the 2015 edition of the Arnold Sports Festival held in Columbus, Ohio.[7] On December 20, 2016, it was announced that Sebera would compete at the 2017 Arnold Classic event in the fitness international category.[8] She placed 14th.[9]

Professional wrestling career

NXT (2013–2015)

Sebera was signed by WWE in June 2013 and was assigned to their developmental territory NXT, where she was given the ring name Dana Brooke.[10] Brooke made her first television appearance at the NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way event on September 11, 2014, in a backstage segment with Tyler Breeze. A week later on September 18, she made her in-ring debut at an NXT live event, teaming with Bayley in a loss to Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks.[1] After a series of introductory vignettes, Brooke made her televised debut on the April 15, 2015, episode of NXT, defeating Blue Pants.[11]

On the April 29 episode of NXT, Brooke defeated Bayley after a distraction by Emma, forming an alliance between the two.[12] On the May 7 episode of NXT, Brooke accompanied Emma to her match against Bayley, which was followed by a post-match altercation also involving Charlotte.[13] This led to a tag team match at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, which Brooke and Emma lost.[14] In September, Brooke and Emma started a feud with the debuting Asuka.[15] At NXT TakeOver: Respect, Brooke lost to Asuka.[16][17] Despite the loss, Brooke and Emma continued to provoke Asuka,[18] which resulted in a match between Emma and Asuka at NXT TakeOver: London on December 16, which Emma lost, despite Brooke's interference.[19][20] On the March 23, 2016, episode of NXT, Brooke accompanied Emma during a match against Asuka, which was Brooke's last NXT appearance.[21]

Various storylines (2016–2017)

On the May 9, 2016, episode of Raw, Brooke made her debut on the main roster by assaulting Becky Lynch during a backstage segment, reuniting with Emma.[22] Three days later on the May 12 episode of SmackDown, Brooke made her in-ring debut and defeated Lynch with Emma's help.[23] Their association ended when Emma was legitimately injured during a house show on May 16.[24]

On May 22, Brooke appeared at Extreme Rules, dressed as Ric Flair to distract Natalya and help Charlotte retain her WWE Women's Championship.[25] The following night on Raw, Charlotte turned on her father and introduced Brooke as her protegé.[26] At Money in the Bank on June 19, Brooke and Charlotte defeated Natalya and Lynch.[27] After starting a feud with Sasha Banks, which included multiple matches between Brooke, Charlotte, and Banks,[28][29][30][31][32] Banks and her partner Bayley defeated Brooke and Charlotte at the Battleground pay-per-view.[33] On July 19, Brooke was drafted to Raw as part of the 2016 WWE draft.[34][35] On the September 12 episode of Raw, Brooke slapped Charlotte after being degraded by her on multiple occasions, resulting in Raw general manager Mick Foley placing Brooke in a triple threat match against Bayley and Sasha Banks to determine Charlotte's opponent at Clash of Champions, which she lost.[36] On the October 3 episode of Raw, Brooke got involved in a backstage altercation with Bayley right before Charlotte lost the title for the second time.[37] The following week on Raw, Brooke attacked Bayley after her match.[38] This led to a match between the two on the October 17 episode of Raw, which Brooke won.[39] Their feud culminated in a singles match on October 30 at Hell in a Cell, where Brooke lost.[40]

On the March 13, 2017, episode of Raw, Brooke attacked Flair for berating her after she lost to Banks.[41] On the April 3 episode of Raw, she teamed with Bayley and Banks against Flair, Nia Jax, and the returning Emma, with Brooke's team emerging victorious.[42] On the June 26 episode of Raw, Brooke competed in a number one contender's gauntlet match for Alexa Bliss's Raw Women's Championship, but was the third eliminated by Nia Jax.[43] On August 7, Brooke unsuccessfully competed on a triple threat match against Mickie James and Nia Jax to determine Alexa Bliss's opponent at SummerSlam.[44] On the October 9 episode of Raw, she competed in a five-way elimination match to determine an opponent for Asuka at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, and was the first eliminated by Bayley.[45] On the November 13 episode of Raw, Brooke competed in a triple threat match against Bayley and Mickie James to determine the final member of Raw's team at Survivor Series, which Bayley won. During the match, Brooke attacked Asuka,[46] which led to a match between the two on the November 20 episode of Raw, in which Brooke was defeated.[47] They faced off in a rematch the following week, where she lost in three seconds, setting a new record for the fastest submission win in a women's match in WWE.[48]

Titus Worldwide (2017–2018)

On November 27, 2017, Brooke joined Titus O'Neil's "Titus Worldwide" faction, alongside Apollo Crews and Akira Tozawa.[49] Throughout the remainder of 2017, she made appearances alongside the faction.[50] In January 2018, Tozawa left the group.[51] On January 28 at the Royal Rumble, Brooke entered at number 8 during the first women's Royal Rumble match. She eliminated Kairi Sane before being eliminated by Torrie Wilson.[52] During the next month, Brooke accompanied O'Neil and Crews as they failed to win the Raw Tag Team Championship from Cesaro and Sheamus.[53][54][55] On April 8, Brooke made her WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 34 competing in the inaugural WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, in which she was eliminated by Mandy Rose.[56]

On September 3, Brooke parted ways with Titus Worldwide after a mid-match coaching backfired, causing Brooke and Ember Moon to lose to Bayley and Sasha Banks.[57]

Brooke has appeared in three WWE video games. She made her in-game debut in WWE 2K17[58] and appears in WWE 2K18 and WWE 2K19.[59]

Personal life

Sebera was in a relationship with fellow bodybuilder Dallas McCarver until his death on August 22, 2017.[60]
