Ang Kapatiran Party (AKP, lit. The Brotherhood Party), also known as the Alliance for the Common Good is a political party in the Philippines, formed in 2004 and unaffiliated with either major coalition in the 2007 elections. However, it did not participate in the 2004 elections. Reynaldo “Nandy” Pacheco, is the founder of this party.

Senatorial candidates

Ang Kapatiran fielded three candidates for the Senate in the 2007 elections.

• Zosimo Jesus Paredes II - Former executive director of the Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces Agreement who resigned at the height of the Philippine government's perceived protection of convicted American rapist Daniel Smith (marine soldier) after the latter's transfer of detention from the Makati City jail to the US Embassy compound. He is also the brother of Ducky and Jim Paredes.
• Dr. Martin Bautista - Gastroenterologist who had spent the last 17 years working in the United States. Last year, he went home for good with his wife and four daughters and was later convinced to run under the AKP ticket.
• Adrian Sison - Seasoned lawyer specializing in taxation and family law.

New officers

On September 26, 2007, Kapatiran named its new officers: Renato H. Peronilla, new president, replacing Mario E. Ongkiko; Manolo K. Dayrit, chair; David S. Lim, vice chair; Benjamin P. de Guzman, vice president; Eric B. Manalang, secretary general; Amador F. Astudillo and Rafael Q. Enriquez, deputy Secretaries General, and Ricardo G. Librea, treasurer. Pacheco remains the founder and chair emeritus.^[1]

Philippine general election, 2010

Church-based political party Kapatiran, led by founder Nandy Pacheco, on October 1, 2008, launched its campaign for Philippine general election, 2010 at Iloilo City at the national convention of the Philippines' Pontifical Council for the Laity. Party secretary-general Eric Manalang announced it will field 4,020 candidates, focusing its campaign in 200 towns and cities with the biggest percentage of young voters. Kapatiran fielded 30 candidates in Philippine general election, 2007, but only John Carlos de los Reyes won, as second as Olongapo City councilor. It will placed 200 training centers nationwide.^[2][3]

On March 4, 2010, senatorial candidate Zosimo Paredes transferred to Bangon Pilipinas Party of Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

The party announced its fielding of candidates for the 2016 Philippine General Elections last June 24, 2015.^[4] On October 12, 2015, Rizalito "Lito" David who previously ran for senator in the party in the years 2010 and 2013 became the presidential candidate of the party filed his Certificate of Candidacy along with Albert Alba, a Certified Public Accountant who previously worked for Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co., as his running mate.^[5] Rizalito David also announced that Visayas and Mindanao residents also make up the slate for the senatorial candidates in the party in order to provide a fair representation of the people residing in the two islands as opposed to the usual practice of parties fielding people who hail from Visayas or Mindanao but are actually residents of Manila.^[6] On October 15, 2015, the party's six senatorial candidates filed their Certificates of Candidacy at four in the afternoon.^[7]

In a press conference on October 26, Ang Kapatiran officially announced that they will not endorse these candidates by the party's leadership, as the whole party planned to boycott the elections and to push forward the change into parliamentary system and federalism in the country.^[8] It was also announced by Presidential Candidate Rizalito David through his official Facebook account that candidates of Ang Kapatiran will now be under the newly established Koalisyong Katoliko Kristiyano party that serves as the successor of the Ang Kapatiran Party for the 2016 General Elections.^[9]
