Anatol Şalaru (born 7 February 1962, Văratic, Rîșcani) is a Moldovan politician. He was the Transport and Road Infrastructure Minister in the First Filat Cabinet and the Second Filat Cabinet. As of 2015, he is the Defense Minister in the Streleț Cabinet, until 27 December 2016, when he was removed from office by the current President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, at the request of the leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu.

Biography

In 1993 Șalaru created the Party of Reform and was the chairman of the party until 1997. The Party of Reform later became the Liberal Party and Șalaru remains party vice-president.[1]

He used to work for Ascom Group in Chișinău, Turkmenistan and Iraq.
