Anamika is an Indian soap opera that aired on Sony Entertainment Television. It premiered on 26 November 2012[1] and went off-air on 13 September 2013. It is Vikas Seth's debut show as a producer on Sony Television and is based on a love story of Anamika and Arjit and how Santosh is jealous of Arjit because he claped Anamika's cheeks.[2]
Plot summary
Jeet Saluja (Mudit Nayar) starts encountering a mysterious woman, and strange incidents begin to happen with him. Once his car breaks down and he gets a lift from this mysterious woman whose face is hidden in the dark. He tries to talk to her but she remains mum. Her identity is later revealed as Anamika (Simran Kaur), an extremely beautiful lady who lives alone in a large bungalow in the forests.
In the show, she loves Jeet and he is strangely attracted to her. Jeet discovers that it is in fact a negative energy that is trying to win him over and he stops meeting Anamika. However, after a lot of confusion and conflicts realises his true love for Rano (Annie Gill), who is Jeet's best friend since childhood and has been in love with him for a long time. Rano and Jeet finally agree to marry. Soon, it is revealed that Anamika is a witch.
Anamika takes Jeet to her house and ties him. Jeet sees many men hanging in the room. They are the different men Anamika had married before killing them to gain power. Rano tries to save Jeet from Anamika, but does not succeed. Jeet has been hypnotized by Anamika but finally gets to know Anamika's truth and manages to escape. After a lot of struggle Jeet is finally reunited with his family. On the other hand, Anamika commits suicide.
Finally, after great difficulties Jeet and Rano get married. But strange incidents once again begin to happen as Anamika’s spirit returns and begins to haunt Rano and others. In the process to permanently remove Anamika's existence from the earth Rano herself dies, but her spirit has still not attained salvation and there is only one girl, Chhavi Gupta, who can see Rano’s spirit.
The story takes a leap. Jeet, who used to be a very good boxer, leaves boxing and starts working at his father's company and Chhavi is Jeet's secretary. Anamika on the other hand has returned as a human and has changed her name to Anamika Malhotra. As days pass Chhavi and Jeet become close. At the same time Jeet gets closer to Anamika. Rano’s spirit informs Chhavi that the time has come for her to marry Jeet and after this Rano’s soul will attain salvation. Jeet’s family finally gets Jeet and Chhavi married much to Anamika's discontent.
Soon after the wedding, Anamika starts living with Jeet and Chhavi and starts tormenting their lives, unbeknownst to the either of them. Her living with the family sparks conflicts between Jeet and Chhavi. Realising Anamika's truth, Chhavi throws her out of the house but Anamika deploys many tricks which make all family members lose trust in Chhavi. They start believing that Chhavi performs black magic and they finally oust Chhavi and Anamika once again starts living with the family.
Chhavi finally succeeds in bringing out Anamika's truth in front of Jeet and his entire family, but Jeet is forced to go to Anamika's house after she abducts his mother, Pushpa. Pushpa is saved but at the cost of Jeet's soul. Anamika with her powers, makes her house disappear and buries Jeet, but later the family succeeds in finding Jeet's body. Meanwhile, Anamika manages to take Jeet's soul to the netherworld and puts him in a trance and they copulate. Later Anamika's wish comes true, as she gets pregnant by Jeet.
Chhavi, desperate to save Jeet, gives up her own soul and goes to the netherworld. After arriving in the netherworld and facing many obstacles, she manages to get her hands on a trident, the only thing which could destroy Anamika. Anamika wishes to keep Jeet with her forever and to make this happen Jeet has to be transformed into one of them, but Chhavi somehow confronts Anamika before she can transform Jeet. After a lot of struggle Jeet's trance finally ends. Anamika tormented to see all this is stabbed with the trident by Jeet, losing all her powers and thus, dying. Finally, the souls of Jeet and Chhavi return to their respective bodies. They are reunited with the family. Later that night, Jeet and Chhavi consummate.
Another secret of Anamika is revealed. The show goes back to a past where Jeet is a king, Chhavi is the queen and Jeet and Anamika are in a relationship. One day Chhavi finds out about it and curses Anamika to live till the end of time. Time passes and Chhavi and Jeet of the past die but Anamika doesn't. She waits for Jeet, and all the men those were seen in Anamika's room were all Jeet born in different times and forms.
The story takes a leap of few months and it is revealed that Chhavi is two months pregnant. But suddenly the doorbell rings and on opening the door the family finds a baby girl on the doorstep. They look for the baby's parents but in vain. So they finally decide to keep the baby with them until they find her parents. Later it is revealed that the baby is none other than Anamika and Jeet’s baby, whose spirit was saved before Anamika died. But the family is oblivious to this fact and thus, Anamika's existence is not erased from this world, as Anamika's supernatural powers now reside in her baby.
