Acar is also a Lebanese surname of Aramaic/Hebrew origin. The origins of Acar in Lebanon is ACHAR (עָכָר), Anglicized form of Hebrew Akar or Akan, meaning "one who troubles", "troublesome", or "someone who stirs trouble". In the bible, this is the name of an Israelite who stole forbidden items during the assault on Jericho, for which he was stoned to death (Genesis 36:27, and in Chronicles 1:42 he is called Jaakan). This is a commonly found surname among the Maronites of Lebanon, found in Qartaba and its hamlets Mazraat es-Siyad, Abboud, and Bakhos.
