April events

– Beginning of the 14 month scheduled 14th Street Tunnel shutdown to allow for repairs on the New York City Subway Canarsie Line tunnels which were damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.^[1]^[2]

June events

– Go-Ahead Germany will commence operating.^[3]

July

– Gimpo Goldline scheduled to open in Seoul.

September

– Valley Metro Rail Gilbert Road extension is scheduled to open.^[4]^[5]
– Expected opening of the Berryessa segment of the Silicon Valley BART extension.^[6]
September 15 – West Coast Partnership franchise scheduled to commence.^[7]

October

Autumn – Elizabeth line scheduled to open through central London from Shenfield to Paddington.^[8]

November events

November 14 – Possible delayed opening of the Central Subway in San Francisco.^[9]

December events

– Thomson-East Coast MRT Line Phase 1, from Woodlands North to Woodlands South will open.
– Final part of Elizabeth line scheduled to open from Paddington to Heathrow and Reading.^[10]

Unknown date events

– Sydney Metro Northwest, Australia's first dedicated rapid transit line will start operations.
– The Basque Y is scheduled to be finished.^[11]
– Sofia Metro Line 3 is expected to open.^[12]^[13]^[14]
– The Confederation Line is scheduled to open as part of the O-Train network in Ottawa, Ontario.^[15]
– The City Circle Line of the Copenhagen Metro is expected to open.^[16]
– Sha Tin to Central Link is expected to open.
– JR West's Miyakojima Station to open.
– Opening of Toluca–Mexico City commuter rail.^[17]
– Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Crenshaw/LAX Line to open,^[18] including Aviation/Century station.^[19]
– Expected opening of Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit’s extension to Larkspur Landing Ferry Terminal.
– Expected opening of Milwaukee Streetcar Lakefront extension.^[20]
