During the 2017–18 season, Ajax participate in the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. It also participated in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League but they couldn't get through the qualification stage for both competitions. As a result, this season marked the first season where Ajax did not qualify for a UEFA club competition since the 1990–91 season when they were excluded from competing in European football for a year due to the staafincident. The first training took place on 29 June 2017.
